Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Angi Brooks, and I’m thrilled to have you here. I’m a 49-year-old Canadian mom of five wonderful children, and our family’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Our youngest, a spirited five-year-old, has Down syndrome, and he brings immense joy and unique challenges to our lives every day.
A Bit About Me and My Family
I’m married to Ray, a dedicated road construction worker who often works long hours to support our family. Despite his busy schedule, Ray is a loving and involved father, and together we navigate the beautiful chaos of our life. Our family is a mix of personalities, interests, and needs, which keeps things lively and unpredictable. We cherish every moment and find joy in the little things.
When I’m not busy with mom duties, I have a passion for food preservation, gardening, and exploring the great outdoors on my electric bicycle. I also love playing on my computer, whether it’s for creating engaging content, connecting with others online, or just unwinding with a good game.
Why I Use a Pen Name
You might be wondering why I chose to blog under the pen name “Angi Brooks.” While I am committed to sharing real and honest experiences, it’s also important for me to maintain a level of privacy for my family. Using a pen name allows me to keep our personal lives secure while still providing valuable insights and connecting with other parents who might be facing similar challenges. I believe in the power of authenticity, and my stories and advice are true to my experiences, just under a name that provides a bit more protection for my loved ones.
Why I Started This Blog
“Mommy’s Down-to-Earth Life” was born out of a desire to share our experiences, challenges, and triumphs with other families who might be walking a similar path. As a stay-at-home mom to a child with special needs, I understand the unique joys and difficulties that come with this journey. Through this blog, I aim to provide a supportive space where we can share tips, resources, and encouragement.
